Common type, Extremely Rare die pair (only 6 others recorded from these dies. See 93.0457, 95.0007, 95.2012, 99.0179, 00.1163, 02.0245).
A beautiful example of the type and the best from these dies. Strongly struck on dark silver with bright highlights.
This is the silver unit that goes with the Freckenham Crescents “Ring and Star” gold stater (ABC 1447). Both the staters and the units start off with distinctive horse’s heads which are based on a figure of 8 shape, but both change style at the end to a head composed of a pellet with a crescent jaw and a rectangular pellet on the end.
