“Eastern and Colchis” Coffee Mug
Two Celtic coins that don’t turn up in Britain (well, unless you buy them and they get posted to you, but you know what I mean). The silver one, a “Velemer ohne Gesichtsrand” tetradrachm, was minted by an unknown tribe in Eastern Europe c. 200-100 BC. The gold one, an imitation of a Lysimachus stater, was minted c. 66 BC – 25 AD by an unknown tribe in the Cholchis region of the Black Sea. Or by the Bastarnae on the other side of the Black Sea. Or by a tribe in Transylvania. But probably in Colchis. Maybe.
